We are looking for a leader with strong technical depth, organizational leadership and experience building effective operating mechanisms to help lead OCI Data Core and Storage through its next stage of growth.
You will lead Business Operations and Delivery Operations, working through the leaders of both functions to connect business priorities with engineering execution. You will also guide technical programs that improve service economics, capacity utilization, reliability and customer adoption.
The work starts with understanding our customers and the systems they depend on. You will partner with Engineering, Product, Finance and Operations to determine priorities, resolve resource and delivery tradeoffs, and establish clear ownership. Success means better decisions, predictable execution and measurable improvements in business performance and engineering effectiveness.
Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Lead leaders and build the organization. Develop the Business Operations and Delivery Operations teams, clarify responsibilities and build the capabilities needed to support a growing technical organization.
- Set direction for strategic technical programs. Help define the vision, scope and execution strategy for initiatives such as Cost of Cloud, revenue growth and Autonomous Cloud. Turn ambiguous problems into clear outcomes, technical milestones and commitments across teams.
- Own the Rhythm of Business. Establish planning cycles, business reviews, program reviews and executive reporting across Data Core and Storage, including Object, Block and File services. Make these forums useful for decisions, accountability and resolving blockers.
- Connect financial performance with engineering decisions. Partner with Finance and service leaders on revenue, margins, budgets, forecasts and infrastructure investments. Identify the technical and operational changes needed to improve service economics.
- Strengthen delivery and engineering quality. Lead the operating mechanisms for release readiness, dependency management, quality reviews and operational readiness. Partner with engineering owners on major issues, investigations and corrective actions, ensuring lessons lead to lasting improvements.
- Improve capacity and resource planning. Bring together demand forecasts, customer commitments, utilization and delivery constraints to guide capacity and investment decisions. Partner with capacity and engineering owners to improve forecast accuracy and the cost of serving customers.
- Build a disciplined intake and incubation process. Work with Product and Engineering to assess new requests, test assumptions and establish priorities. Give emerging initiatives clear scope, ownership, staffing and criteria for continuing, changing direction or stopping.
- Coordinate execution across services. Establish how embedded technical program managers and central teams work together. Resolve dependencies across organizations, support architecture reviews and ensure technical risks and decisions reach the right owners.
- Guide workforce planning and organizational change. Partner with leaders, Finance, HR and Talent Acquisition on headcount allocation, hiring priorities and organizational design. Help teams adopt new processes and measure whether they improve execution.
- Provide clear executive communication. Translate complex technical, financial and operational information into concise recommendations. Surface risks early, explain tradeoffs and drive decisions and actions to closure.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading technical programs, engineering operations or business operations within a substantial engineering organization, including managing leaders and building teams.
- Strong technical depth in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, storage or data platforms, with the judgment to challenge technical plans and assess architecture, reliability, performance and cost tradeoffs.
- A record of delivering complex programs across organizational boundaries where the problem, ownership or path forward was initially unclear.
- Experience building operating mechanisms that improve decisions and execution, with measurable results.
- Strong financial and analytical judgment, including experience with budgets, resource planning, forecasting and business performance.
- Ability to secure commitments, resolve competing priorities and influence senior engineering, product and business leaders.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn complex information into decisions and accountable action.
How You Lead
- Start with the customer. Understand customer workloads, challenges and expectations. Use that understanding to guide priorities and investment decisions, and measure success through improvements customers experience.
- Take ownership. Own outcomes from problem definition through delivery. Step into gaps, resolve dependencies and see commitments through. Welcome challenge, acknowledge mistakes and put the best outcome ahead of personal credit.
- Deliver results. Set ambitious, measurable goals and make the decisions needed to achieve them. Move with urgency, surface risks early and adapt when the evidence changes. Build mechanisms that help teams deliver consistently.
- Grow strong leaders and teams. Hire thoughtfully, coach directly and give people meaningful responsibility. Create opportunities for individuals to stretch, develop successors and hold leaders accountable for both results and the growth of their teams.
Preferred Experience
- Leading programs involving cloud cost reduction, capacity utilization, service reliability, automation or customer adoption.
