As Technical Producers at Riot, we lead passionate technical teams to create products and experiences that achieve maximum developer, operator, and player value. We guide development, clear blockers, and push projects across the finish line while ensuring our teams are sustainable and foster a collaborative environment.
As a Senior Technical Producer on the Infrastructure Platform team, you'll drive direction and delivery across the platforms the rest of Riot ships on: live game services in every region, internal tools Rioters build to do their jobs, and a fast-growing set of workloads. Much of the work ahead is extending those platforms to support emergent or underserved use cases, and you'll help decide what that should look like. You'll partner closely with engineering leads across Infrastructure and the teams across Riot who depend on what we deliver.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with engineering managers and technical leads to develop the technical product vision, strategy, and roadmap for your area
- Own product requirements for your area, defining what to build, what success looks like, and how it will be measured.
- Partner with engineering to evaluate designs against user needs, assess trade-offs, and pressure-test implementations
- Manage delivery plans, risks, blockers, dependencies, tradeoffs; maintain clear stakeholder communication
- Lead the breakdown and execution of multi-month work efforts spanning multiple teams within an initiative
- Partner with teams to improve work systems, practices, delivery rituals, and goal setting; strengthen product feedback loops to clarify decisions, strengthen delivery predictability, and create a more consistent customer experience
- Coordinate or facilitate day-to-day team rituals where needed within assigned scope
- Assess team health, composition, and capacity to ensure the team is set up for success
- Drive difficult technical tradeoffs with technical leaders, and articulate and advocate those tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers in your assigned scope; engage them to understand needs and coordinate new-work intake
- Prioritize customer requests in partnership with relevant engineering and technical leads for your assigned scope
- Own an integrated view of delivery status across your assigned scope, tracking progress against goals and milestones, and contribute to consolidated reporting for relevant stakeholders, adapting updates to the audience and reporting needs
- Use customer feedback, product signals, test results, and operational data to validate problems and drive priorities
- Monitor product and service health, including user experience, cost, usage, performance, and operational effort, and help turn signals into improvements
- Mentor other producers and contribute ideas beyond your immediate ownership across teams
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience as a Technical Producer, Technical Product Manager, Development Manager, or a relevant role on medium to large technical teams
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience applying Agile and Lean development processes at scale, and contextually adapting a broad set of development processes
- Experience independently leading complex technical programs/projects with multiple teams, diverse stakeholders, or dependencies
- Broad understanding of technical systems across multiple related areas, with the ability to identify and articulate multiple solutions and their tradeoffs
- Experience defining product strategy, success metrics, and roadmap priorities for technical platforms, internal tools, or operational capabilities
- Ability to understand technical requirements and how technical choices affect reliability, operations, and developer and player experience
- Strong understanding of product management and the ability to find balanced solutions across technical, developer, and delivery constraints
- Ability to set product and technical requirements within a defined space and evaluate designs or architecture against those requirements
- Experience owning a roadmap, product plan, or execution plan through more than one stage of the product lifecycle, including launch and post-launch improvement
- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly to audiences with little or no context
- Proficiency with Jira
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools, including Jira Product Discovery and Jira Plans
- Experience building business cases and funding asks for technical investment
- Experience with infrastructure, cloud, developer tooling, or live-service products
- Experience improving developer productivity, operational quality, or self-service for a central platform
- Experience applying data, experimentation, automation, or AI-enabled workflows to deliver customer value or improve efficiency
- Experience working across infrastructure and game teams in a globally distributed, high-scale, or live-service environment
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position!
