We communicate our brand in a way that shows its value clearly, inspire neighbors and businesses to engage on the platform, and partner across the company to keep improving the neighbor and business experience. Our mission is to turn online connections into real-life connections, and you can help make that real.
We offer a warm and inclusive work environment with a hybrid model that blends time in the office with working from home.
The Impact You'll Make
Small businesses are at the heart of every neighborhood, and most are short on time, passionate about their craft, and careful with every dollar. As our Product Marketing Manager for SMB, you will uncover what truly motivates a local business owner to show up on Nextdoor, earn the trust of their neighbors, and eventually advertise. You will own the SMB product marketing strategy, translating customer insights and long-range business goals into positioning, launches, and growth loops that fuel product-led growth.
You will be the voice of the small business owner in product decisions, including 0-to-1 product requirements, and a resourceful operator who finds unconventional ways to reach them. You will use AI as a daily partner to create, investigate, and collaborate, and you will help deliver new experiences to millions of customers worldwide over the next year.
You should be entrepreneurial, endlessly curious, strategic, and willing to roll up your sleeves. If you want the challenge of fast-paced growth, the satisfaction of helping local businesses succeed in every community, and the pride of helping build a talented marketing team, this is the place for you. We strive to give employees the opportunity to make a big impact in the company and in the market.
Your responsibilities
- Build first-hand understanding of small business owners: their goals, what success looks like to them, and what makes them engage in community and choose to advertise. Talk to them regularly.
- Be the product expert, internally and externally, for our small business customers and partners.
- Develop impactful positioning and breakthrough messaging that makes Nextdoor's value to local businesses clear and differentiated.
- Identify and prioritize the most promising opportunities to grow SMB adoption. Design and run low-cost or no-cost growth experiments (e.g. partnerships, local associations, earned and community-led channels, referrals, product-led loops), and turn the wins into repeatable approaches. Share what you learn, including the misses.
- Lead product launches and feature releases across multiple channels to drive acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Use AI daily to create, investigate, and collaborate: synthesize customer signal, prototype messaging and campaigns, analyze data, and build repeatable workflows your teammates can adopt.
- Identify insights from the competitive landscape, voice of customer, NPS, and market trends, and turn them into recommendations that shape and influence the product roadmap.
- Build analytical business cases and measurable KPIs for experiments and product marketing plans. Evaluate results and recommend where to scale, change direction, or stop investment.
- Define priorities and execution for SMB product marketing and align leadership and cross-functional partners (product, data science, research, design, product operations, and fellow marketers) around strategy, resource needs, and required tradeoffs.
What You'll Bring to the Team
This is a highly visible role. You bring five things: deep insight into small businesses and what motivates them, the foundations of a great product marketer, strategic judgment to set direction independently, an entrepreneurial mindset that grows things without relying on spend, and real fluency with AI.
- 5+ years in product marketing or growth marketing.
- Deep, demonstrated understanding of small business owners, backed by specific examples of what drives them to engage, build a presence, and spend on advertising.
- A track record of growing adoption or revenue with little or no paid spend. Tell us what you did and what you would do differently.
- Strong PMM foundations: positioning and messaging, exceptional writing, and analytical rigor. You can form a hypothesis, pull and read the data, and turn it into a recommendation.
- Real AI fluency. Show us how you use AI to create, investigate, and collaborate, how you share what works, and how you check the quality of AI-generated work.
- Entrepreneurial instinct and genuine curiosity about helping small businesses succeed. Experience running or working closely with a small business, side project, or 0-to-1 launch is a plus.
- Strategic ownership and independent judgment: you define and iterate SMB product marketing strategy in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, decide where to focus and what to stop, and align cross-functional partners and senior leaders around those decisions. You move quickly from insight to execution and measure the impact of what you ship.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including presenting to senior leadership.
- A collaborator who builds strong relationships across functions and seniority levels, and who gives and receives constructive feedback respectfully.
Bonus points
- Experience with advertising solutions, local or marketplace platforms, or community-led growth.
