Job Description

As an Legal Engineer, AI Adoption, you will help law firm customers transform how legal work gets done with Thomson Reuters Legal AI. Combining legal-practice experience, product expertise, and a practical understanding of AI, you will identify high-value legal workflows, design and test AI-enabled solutions, and help customers move successful use cases into sustained adoption. Working closely with Customer Success Managers, you will support adoption across customer organizations, with a particular focus on enabling high-value users and scaling successful workflows.

Key Responsibilities

In the role of Legal Engineer, AI Adoption, you will collaborate closely with Customer Success, Sales, and Product teams to:

• Lead in-person discovery sessions, solution demonstrations, workflow workshops, and executive briefings with law firm customers to identify priority legal workflows and show how Thomson Reuters Legal AI can address them.

• Support customers throughout the lifecycle by identifying and prioritizing Legal AI use cases, advising on workflow and solution design, demonstrating relevant capabilities, and helping successful use cases scale across teams and practice areas.

• Partner closely with Customer Success Managers to develop and execute Legal AI adoption strategies for a portfolio of select law firm customers, with particular emphasis on enabling high-value users, expanding successful workflows, and supporting sustained product usage.

• Discover, test, and document best practices for applying Thomson Reuters Legal AI across customer workflows, creating reusable use cases, prompts, playbooks, and workflow patterns that can scale.

• Apply a strong understanding of the legal technology ecosystem to determine when customer needs are best addressed through Thomson Reuters products, a partner solution, an integration, or custom development, and bring together the appropriate technical and business partners.

• Support customer advocacy by communicating customer needs to Customer Success and our cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and Marketing, and highlighting opportunities to improve and innovate our legal AI products.

• Contribute to Thomson Reuters’ thought leadership by sharing expertise with customers and the broader market through events, advisory boards, or customer-facing content.

• Be an effective advocate for Thomson Reuters products. Understand their strengths, areas for improvement, and roadmaps, and be able to explain on multiple levels how they can be specifically applied to take customers’ client advocacy to new heights.
• Travel: This role requires regular travel (approximately 25-30%, varying by quarter) to customer and firm sites to support client engagements, demonstrations, and team initiatives. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as a condition of employment.

Required Qualifications

You are a fit for the role of Legal Engineer, AI Adoption if you have the following required qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited US law school required.

• Prior experience practicing law required (e.g., in a law firm, in-house legal department, government, clerkship, or comparable legal practice setting).

• Proven experience in customer- or client-facing roles, ideally engaging with Enterprise or complex accounts.

• Familiarity with legal workflows and processes such as due diligence, eDiscovery, large document review, compliance, or related domains — gained through direct practice, adjacent roles, or working with legal professionals.

• Demonstrable experience with generative artificial intelligence applications.

• Substantial experience using a variety of online legal research and practice tools (e.g. Westlaw, Practical Law, HighQ, Relativity, Everlaw, etc.).

• Tech-savvy with a strong aptitude for learning new AI tools and platforms; no formal technical or programming background is required.

• Experience with basic programming (Python) and/or exploratory coding for problem-solving is a plus but not required.
• Bring experience in customer-facing roles, ideally working with Enterprise accounts.

• Understand the architecture and operation of large language models (LLMs) and are comfortable working hands-on with AI tools, even without a formal technical or engineering background.

• Approach challenges constructively, framing Thomson Reuters solutions positively and accurately.

• Are knowledgeable in due diligence, eDiscovery, managing large document sets, data rooms, and related workflows where AI can accelerate results.

• Excel at communicating technical concepts and creating clear, high-quality documentation and learning materials, and can craft persuasive presentations that resonate with non-technical and often skeptical customers by focusing on their needs and outcomes rather than just product features.

• Thrive on working directly with motivated customers to solve complex problems, including through in-person, on-site engagements.

• Bring creativity, curiosity, and a growth mindset to problem-solving, with the ability to simplify ambiguous challenges and turn them into opportunities.

The base compensation range varies across locations.

For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $100,100 USD - $185,900 USD.

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
